Week 9 of Sunday Coed at Akron Indoor Soccer saw some thrilling matches and surprising results. Here is a recap of the games that took place on January 14, 2024.
The first game of the day was between Team Dauberman and Zubris, two teams with contrasting records. Team Dauberman, who had lost four of their previous five games, put up a spirited fight against Zubris, who had won seven of their eight games. The game was tied at 4-4 until the final minutes, when Zubris scored four goals in quick succession to seal an 8-5 victory. Zubris maintained their lead in second of the table, while Team Dauberman slipped to seventh place.
The second game was a high-scoring affair between Merica and Chill FC, two teams with similar records. Merica, who had won five of their eight games, dominated the game from start to finish, scoring 14 goals against Chill FC, who had won five of their seven games. Chill FC tried to keep up with Merica’s pace, but could only manage eight goals in return. Merica moved up to fourth place, while Chill FC dropped to sixth place.
The third game was a battle of the bottom two teams, [REDACTED] and Arse ‘N All, who had both won only one game in the season. [REDACTED], who had lost all of their seven games, showed some improvement, scoring six goals against Arse ‘N All, who had won one of their eight games. However, Arse ‘N All proved to be too strong for [REDACTED], scoring 12 goals and securing their second win of the season. [REDACTED] remained at the bottom of the table, while Arse ‘N All climbed to tenth place.
The fourth game was a clash of the titans, Jaguars and A Really Bad Team, who had both won seven of their eight games. Jaguars, who had scored the most goals in the league, continued their impressive form, scoring 11 goals against A Really Bad Team, who had conceded 68 goals in the league. A Really Bad Team tried to resist Jaguars’ onslaught, but could only score five goals in reply. Jaguars extended their winning streak to eight games, while A Really Bad Team suffered their sixth loss of the season.
The fifth and final game of the day was between Un-Zippers and Serb Patrol, two teams with different fortunes. Un-Zippers, who had won only one of their eight games, struggled to cope with Serb Patrol, who had won five of their eight games. Serb Patrol scored 14 goals against Un-Zippers, who scored six goals in consolation. Serb Patrol moved up to third place, while Un-Zippers stayed at ninth place.
